The Parque de la Muela blends into the hillside of the Alcores and provides a transition between the city and the agricultural mosaic of fields. While emphasizing the naturally existing accessibility, the design and usage proposal focuses on the area alongside the creek.

The main element is a new promenade that adapts to area’s terrain, widens and narrows depending on the circumstances. A narrow canal in the style of traditional acequias runs parallel to the promenade. It traps rain water and carries it to a network of gravel-filled spots across the park that also act as natural water filters. Cisterns along the promenade collect water, provide the park with a new identifying feature and offer points of orientation. The collected rain water will be used to irrigate the newly planted fruit trees. A secondary network of paths provides access to the rest of the area.

Two very different urban contexts overlap at this corner property. The narrow front faces a busy arterial road. The back stretches along a quiet residential street. The design of the project responds to this contrast in scale and building regulations. An elevated three-story massive volume marks the corner and reacts to the most urban condition of the place while four row houses establish continuity with the existing residential neighborhood.

The row houses are characterized by an open plan on the ground level, from the street to the inner private garden. On the upper floor, a partial split level allows daylight into the bathroom and onto the stairway.

Although formally distinct, the two structures are united by the use materials and a shared design for the street level. Conceptually they both engage with urban thinking and detail scale, traditional standards and innovative forms.

The frequency of storm surges will continue to increase. By the end of the century, storm surges up to 110 centimetres above today's level could flood the ground level area of HafenCity on a regular basis.

New Horizon proposes an alternative to surrounding HafenCity with flood barriers. It takes advantage of the current “Warft” typology (elevated basement floor) without raising it and sacrificing the existing functions of the street and public space levels. New Horizon is a “flying Warft” above the existing buildings. It is in the first place a new escape route. Moreover, it creates additional space. New Horizon points toward a range of possibilities and encourages a discussion about how to tap this potential in the future. Flood protection traditionally relies on collective effort. New Horizon explores collective possibilities for Hamburg’s future.

Both the historic Ottoplatz and the continually changing Messeplatz shape the identity of the area around the railway station Köln Messe/Deutz. As the gateway between railway station and city, the Ottoplatz stages movement in the urban environment through a fluid topography that reinterprets the historical form of this public square. The Messeplatz is transformed into a dynamic landscape choreography, whose design playfully evokes new aspects of management, trade and negotiation.

The architectural design deliberately incorporates the two themes movement and transformation. Time itself becomes a design element. Here Cologners and their guests can intuitively understand their city as a space of communication and collective responsibility. The entry contributes to a vision of public spaces that encourages a culture of participating in the city as a dynamic communication space.

“Riva Roma” is an individual collection that maps the history of Rome’s water supply by layering representative water features from different historical eras. Combining chronology, hydrology, and topography, “Riva Roma” is an invitation to explore the city along different routes. It reflects urban planning strategies and urbanization processes and reveals how they have shaped the city's morphology and the structure of public space to this day. “Riva Roma” prompts a shift in perspective in order to recognize urban-spatial relationships. It provides orientation within urban space and establishes a relationship with the landscape.

For the exhibition at the Martin Gropius Bau, the waterways were traced on the floor. The most representative water features, nodes within the water supply network, were suspended from the ceiling to depict Rome’s urban topography.
